Turner Classic Art

Robert E Turner passed away Tuesday Feb. 8, 2011 Robert Turner was born in 1948 in Freeport, Texas. From an early age he showed a great interest in art and constantly drew and cartooned. He didn’t become serious about painting, however, until 1969 when he enrolled in a painting class while a Commercial Art student at the University of Houston. From that point on, he has considered himself a painter, and has painted ever since. Shortly after entering college in 1967, he went to work as a Surveyor’s Helper in order to supplement the family income and continued to work in that field until he completed his studies in 1973 and beyond. As time went on his part time job became a career, and though self-taught, was promoted to Construction Engineer, then Project Engineer and finally Project Manager. This career that has spanned almost 40 years has allowed him to pursue the other major interest in his life, that of seeing the world and learning about other cultures. Through various construction projects, side trips and vacations he has been able to live in and visit many foreign countries and most of the states in the United States. Throughout all these travels, however, he has always found time to paint and has produced hundreds of works of art over the years.
