The name "SevanSeas" is playful combination of the artist's name, Sydney Evans and the phrase "sail the seven seas", which goes along with the generally "coastal" feel of the artwork featured in the shop. Sydney Evans of SEVANSEAS is primarily recognized for her larger-than-life coastal art in hues of deep blues, greens, and cool grays. Her memories of growing up in the Tidewater area of Virginia and vacationing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina strongly influence her aquatic subject matter and dynamic palette-knife style. Although she has moved Midwest with her husband, Dylan, to pursue a career in environmental health, her love of the ocean and Chesapeake Bay continue to be the main inspiration for her oil paintings. Sydney found her love of painting and drawing by the age of 4, encouraged and taught by her grandmother, Sandra Cowley, the artist behind All a Board. SevanSeas got its start at the the annual Poquoson Seafood Festival in Poquoson, Virginia, where it was first featured alongside "All a Board" art by Sandra Cowley. The SevanSeas custom items and original works of art are all made by Sydney with help from her husband, Dylan, and with strict oversight and quality control by their greyhound, Tesla.
