Robyn Ressom, a renowned Art Therapist and Psychotherapist based in Brisbane, Australia, has built on the intuitive works of Jung over many years. Robyn has created a vast catalogue of Mandala's depicting the various stages of the human mind, from the dark depths of the unconscious, towards the light of consciousness. Mandala's have been used throughout many ancient traditions, including Buddhism and Hinduism, however, Carl Jung is credited with introducing these images to the Western World. Jung studied Mandala's extensively and found a great deal of potential symbolic meaning in them. Jung believed the "Magic Circle" invites conflicting parts of our nature to appear and allows for the unification of opposites in order to represent the sum of you are. He also believed that mandala's offer a "safe refuge of inner reconciliation and wholeness" providing a sacred space into which we can invite the Self. Jung associated Mandala's with psychological and physical health.
