I jokingly refer to Malcolm as Godzilla's godson. The goofy character was created by me when I was 10-years-old. It was late June towards the end of 4th grade, when the year's curriculum had run its course and the teacher was looking to keep us busy -- and quiet -- with crayons and drawing paper. His crossed eyes and friendly-monster grin gave me the giggles. Still does (It doesn't take much). My classmate, Linda, named him Malcolm. Why Malcolm? I forget. You'd have to ask her. I realized the potential value of a cartoon character that could evoke such glee in a child...even if I was that child. Conceived by my limitless childhood imagination, Malcolm's back-story was that he was a visitor from the planet Schmedric, towering over the Earth at an astonishing 7-miles high. Soon, Malcolm was shrunk to human dimensions, which made him easier to draw within cartoon panels and engage in super-hero adventures with a growing cast of new characters that followed. I've kept the original Malcolm drawing to this day (so copycats beware!). He still makes me laugh.
