After years of teaching statistics in the classroom, I was very comfortable explaining and illustrating statistical concepts while working with my students face to face. However, I had to shift to strategies that would work in a digital environment when the pandemic forced education online. Of course, many students still struggled with statistics, so I needed to get creative when it came to working through problems together from afar. I found that a combination of Zoom plus a document camera was the most effective way to replicate the experience that my students thrived on when we worked through problems together in person. However, as an environmentally conscious individual, it killed me to waste tons of paper working through problems with my document camera. I realized that I missed my whiteboard! I found that using lap whiteboards with my document camera was an excellent solution. I saved a ton of trees and perhaps even more importantly gave students a sense of normalcy and connection that they were missing during this bizarre period in our lives. However, after drawing a million normal distributions, I thought that there had to be an easier way. I scoured the internet for whiteboards designed for teaching statistics and was shocked to find that there wasn't anything remotely useful. I just couldn't find what I was looking for, so I started designing the whiteboards that I needed myself. I found that these boards saved time, increased student comprehension, and made my terrible handwriting easier to understand. I was so satisfied with these designs that I decided to share my work with educators, tutors, and students in the hopes that they will make teaching and learning statistics a little easier for all of you.
