I have owned a camera as long as I can remember and always enjoyed taking snapshots of people, places and events throughout my life. On a trip to Mono Lake in 1997 I met a professional photographer who invited me to join his sunrise photo shoot class. The next morning he instructed the students to choose four scenes and to take a series of photographs of each scene over the course of the sunrise. All I had with me was a point & shoot Ricoh AF-5 with a fixed 38mm lens. I chose two different tufa formations for distance shots and some grasses for close ups. When the film was developed and I picked up the prints I was amazed at the changes in shade and color in the sequence of shots. My whole perspective on “picture taking” changed from snapshots to fine arts photography. That chance meeting inspired me to chronicle my travels all over the western United States through my cameras. In 2002 I started to make calendars and greetings cards for my Parents in England to show them all the places I had visited. However it was not until the winter of 2005 that I really did anything serious with my photography. The motivation was a fundraiser for a friend. I donated four of my prints. It was fun to monitor the auction on eBay and watch a bidding war unfold over one of my prints. That particular photograph “Caught in Traffic” has become my best selling print. Currently I sell numbered, limited edition prints in two sizes; 8” x 12” and 12” x 18”, plus greeting cards and calendars. My portfolio consists of urban and rural landscapes, trees, plants, whimsical roadside art and whatever else catches my eye!
