Kristy is an artist and writer from Hartford Township in rural Ohio. She is a Teach for America Alumna who believes in giving students the opportunity to express themselves creatively in a variety of forms, including art, music, dance, and writing. She is currently studying for a Masters of Arts in Serious Game Design at Michigan State University. During her undergraduate career as a Linguistics and English major, Kristy studied abroad at Chubu University in Japan. She fell in love with kimono and other Japanese traditional arts. The experience led her to intern at Togyoku Dolls, a company producing handcrafted dolls for Hina Matsuri and other Japanese holidays. Her time in Japan informs much of her color and stylistic choices, but it is not her only inspiration. She also takes inspiration from many sources, including Pre-Raphaelite paintings, video games, Within Temptation albums, Miyazaki films, her ferret, and her garden. This leads to an eclectic collection of illustrations and writings that appeal to different audiences. Although she enjoys graphic design, she considers herself a storyteller, hoping leave her audience with a lingering sense of connection to the characters and their worlds. If you are not interested in purchasing items from Kristina's Zazzle store and are an artist yourself, you can also find her on Swap-Bot as novemberkris.
