Ever Billotte Fine Art: I paint landscapes in oils & watercolor. My intention is to honor nature as sacred no matter where it's found. Influences include Dutch Masters, Visionary landscape artists, Romantic Landscape Painters & the Hudson River School. This artistic effort has led to trips throughout North America & the farthest reaches of the Northern wilderness, providing material in sketches, paintings, pictures, written impressions & recalled images. This led to seeing nature in all it's grandeur. There were far reaching plains of arctic tundra, fragrant woodlands, & dry deserts heavy with heat. Winds roared through giant valleys & massive mountains stood in powerful stillness. There were unending blue skies with boundless drifting clouds, that changed to stars & darkness opening to the vastness of space & infinite stillness of an ever changing universe. Meteors streaked across wide open dark. Planets moved in slow procession across the map of the sky. Storms came on suddenly, sending driving rain with flashes of lightning & explosions of thunder. Fiery bolts shattered branches high in the hills. Powerful gales were a steady presence in endless open fields. The sun & moon wandered across the horizon. Shining Rivers, lakes & streams throughout the rugged landscapes were a reminder of water's presence on earth. Its many forms interacted with sunlight, like an array of jewels. There was ice, snow, mist, rain & glittering dew. It displayed rainbows, nacreous clouds, & wild color as the sun rose up & spun across the arc of the sky. It descended below the horizon in an inferno of light, leaving behind red embers that fade into night. There were giant valleys going up in flames sending smoke across the land. Northern lights shimmered in green & red, moving like a giant ocean in the sky. All these miracles gave rise to a sense of an Infinite Spirit. These outings had many hard times, but beyond them were moments that are the guiding light for this creative quest.
