I was raised in Central New York, the Finger Lakes region to be exact. I grew up on a farm and learned to ride on my Shetland Pony, Cricket, at the age of 4. I rode and showed medium and large pony hunters until I reached high school. Then I got a young Thoroughbred/Quarter horse cross who never had a saddle on him before. I have to say, learning how to break a horse was probably the most fun I had with horses. I never did show Amadeus and I ended up getting out of horses when I was in college...no time, no money. As an adult, I traded horses for dogs. I have a young Rottweiler male, Lars, who I show in competition obedience, rally obedience, and agility. I think I love dog sports just as much, if not more, than horse sports.
The art started as little paper cut out horses I would have little imaginary horse shows with. As I got older, my drawing techniques began to develop into what they are now. I made my first attempts of photo-realism as a sophomore in high school. Even I was surprised at what had come up on the paper. I attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and earned my Bachelor's of Science in General Plant Sciences with a minor in Ornamental Horticulture. (My day job is being a landscape designer and garden consultant.) I never formally pursued my art education after high school; so, I guess I'm a self-taught artist in that respect.
For the longest time, the art was just a hobby to me and the drawings would go to friends or family as gifts, end up on my wall, or end up in my portfolio. My family, friends, and my husband have said to me for years that I need to take the art somewhere and do something with it. I'll add to this page as my artist career develops and grows. I hope you enjoy looking around my website and my art.
At this time, I have art in private collections in New Hampshire, New York, Wisconsin, and Rhode Island.
