Approximately 2011, I started the Kindness Tree Movement as a way to escape the negative messaging in the world and give myself and others something good to place our focus. Goodness. I posted kindness challenges on my website and participated in things like handing out flowers to strangers and leaving random messages of encouragement on vehicles to name a few. I posted 52 kindness challenges on my website, one for each week of the year. Fast forward to March 2016. I was 1400 miles away from home, on a business trip, when a trip to the ER revealed a brain tumor that needed immediate removal. The tumor proved to be a benign hemangioblastomas. While benign, the tumor is rare. Just like me. :) The kindness me and my family received from friends, family and strangers was beyond anything I could ever imagine. Many told me that what I had given to others over the years had come back to me 1000 times over. My surgery and recovery experience provided an opportunity for me to learn a little more about brain tumors, especially brain tumors in children. I taught myself to screen print while recovering. I began selling my items with the hopes of beginning the transition and eventually being able to work from home. I never want to be away from my family again, unless it was on our terms. My experience was the push I needed and I am committed to making a difference by giving 10% of each purchase to the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation. With the help of kind donors, I covered my vehicle in kindness messages to try to encourage others to make a difference. I appreciate your support and would love for you to join our movement.
