I started baking my gingerbread cookies almost 30 years ago. After spending many years studying design, in Los Angeles and Paris, I landed a job working as a designer in San Francisco. One day my boss brought these amazing gingerbread cookies in to our office that his wife had baked. Did I mention they were *amazing*? She shared her recipe with me and since that day, I have made hundreds of them every year for friends and loved ones. A few years ago a friend asked me to bake (and art direct, photograph, and write) for her online magazine. These gorgeous Parisian inspired cookies were the result of that project and now I make them every Valentine's Day! I have never met a double sided satin ribbon I don't love, and when I found this one at a local store, it had to come home with me. I tucked it away for just the perfect project...and it was the perfect accent to these hearts. I truly love making and decorating cookies. There is so much joy in it for me.
