Texas Legislators, as well as 44 other states, have decided to allow open and concealed weapons in places of business, places of worship and places of education. This law will go into effect on January 1, 2016 in most states, including Texas. What does this mean for your business? You, as a business owner will have to place two large signs that are poster size at each entrance that specifically prohibits people with concealed or openly carried guns from entering your place of business. How will this new law affect your business? In January, you will not be able to tell if the person coming into your place of business is okay or is coming to harm you and your clients or customers because any person licensed or unlicensed will be carrying a gun. The only thing that you can do is to place the warning signs so you can be protected legally. You must post these two signs at each entrance. If a person refuses to leave, you should call the police. How do you comply with this new law? Post signs for both concealed and open carry that has the required wording on them. These signs should be taped to the inside of a window or glass of your business. We, as business owners, may have to comply with this ridiculous law but we don't have to be un-stylish while doing so.
