In 2015 the founder of 'No More Hyphens', noticed many U.S. politicians repeatedly made use of the term, "the American people". After a while it was obvious that this was not an inclusive term that would apply to or cover all Americans. Any group, community, people, or demographic that has a hyphen in the title or description of that group, people, or demographic such as African-American, Mexican-American, Muslim American, Jewish-American etc; these groups of people are not being included when you hear the term "the American people" from many of our politicians. No More Hyphens is a call to eliminate the hyphens that separate us as pseudo-Americans and push to identify all groups as just plain old….Americans. This a heavy lift as most all government funding disbursements and gerrymandering of districts all across America are contingent on census numbers of minority populations, and anyone not recognized as "the American people" are part of that minority population whether they know it or not. Whenever we are able as a nation to eliminate sub-titles and identifiers to define individuals or groups of Americans as anything other than "Americans", for those of us who are or would like to be "just plain old.........."Americans", we will have risen to a level of awareness not yet achieved in this country since its inception. If you agree with 'No More Hyphens' and you are tired of talking, hearing, and arguing about it, please get a T-shirt (one per person please) and wear it. If you know somebody who might wear it proudly, please get them a T-shirt, it can be very therapeutic. If you are not in the minority but agree with the concept, get one for yourself. You will not have to argue anymore, the shirt speaks for itself and hopefully it will speak for you and that is what we hope to achieve, to give voice to those who are tired of the conversations and the looks and the comments etc....and for those who cant find the words or cannot speak for themselves.
