We are a mother-daughter duo with a collective 70+ years of writing experience and we understand the impact that telling your story can have. We want to serve everyone with a story to tell—so everyone: writers, folks interested in writing, students and teachers, people who doubt they have a story worth telling, readers, people struggling with life, local folks, travelers in need of some hospitality, and all the rest of humanity. Native South Writers Workshop is a project in its early phases. We are currently cultivating an online presence with the goal of opening a brick and mortar home for anyone who wants to come and write their story (whether they think they are a writer or not). We plan to open in August of 2022 in Hickory, North Carolina. The coming year will be spent planning and talking with folks about our vision and progress along the way, so Native South will feel as familiar as home when we launch. Within three years, we plan to have a solid membership base, a reputation for uplifting the community, and inspiring success stories from our writers. Ultimately, we see generations of people living writing lives that started with Native South. Native South plans to offer a catalog of custom-designed writer-specific products (which will be available here, on Zazzle starting ASAP) like pens, notebooks, mugs, t-shirts, totes, stationary, etc., along with the perfect space to write, interact, and discover the transformative power of words. Our members will receive discounts on writing workshops, guest speakers, assistance with creating, revising, editing, opportunities to publish and more. The community will benefit from regular outreach programs to bring the power of writing to people where they are.
