Hawaii's Jewels

Hawaii has the unfortunate title of the Endangered Species Capital of the World. The endemic plants and animals crossed the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii by way of wind, water or wings (birds). Surviving that journey, they found their niche whether it be along the coast, in the wet mesic forests, or the volcanic summits. Each species is special and unique. As Baba Dioum said, "In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught." I hope you take a look at what's out there around you where ever you may be and learn what's out there and appreciate them for who they are. And hopefully, you'll try to protect and conserve them because once they're gone, it just won't be the same without them.
