In my life I have been a fencing master, a printer in a newspaper, a photographer, a magazine publisher, a historian, a magazine writer, a farmer, and book author. I have had seven books published, I have a degree in history, and I have written for Encyclopedia Britannica. Also, I love cats, of which three own me. As for my art, I have been drawing for most of my seventy-four years. My work is simple, it amuses me and often others, and people often say, "You should sell your stuff." I am tired of their nagging, so here I am presenting my work for the world to peruse. The genesis of my art work is that I began my present style of drawing fifty years ago when I began creating swashbuckler cartoon characters for my friends soon after I started fencing. In time, I produced over 300 individual drawings. This then transferred over to drawing Santa Clauses. Of these, I have produced one original Santa every Christmas since 1975, some of them being featured here in my store. The cats are a more recent manifestation. After years of drawing cats at a third grade level of art, I finally decided to seriously master cat images when three cats--Bud, Sweetie, and Bob--became my best friends and family. After much crumpled paper, I finally hit on what I was looking for. In all my work, I attempt to amuse, without being cute, sentimental, insulting, or political. I see my work on mugs, T-shirts, posters, pillows, note cards, and tote bags. There are many possibilities.
