Endangered Hand-Painted Red Panda

Red Panda Endangered The Red Panda lives high in the mountains among rocks and trees in northern India, Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal. It is believed there numbers to be less than 10,000 in the wild. Habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation are major threat to the wild Red Panda. Poaching is also one of the threats to the species as Red Pandas are killed for food, medicine, pet trade and their distinctive red fur. Conservation: The Red Panda network work with local community groups, train forest guardians to raise awareness about Red Pandas and also work with villagers to establish protected areas. WWF is working with yak herders to sell briquettes made of yak dung instead of cutting down Red Panda habitat for fuel.
