Endangered Clouded Sunda Leopard Watercolours

Clouded Sunda Leopard VULNERABLE The Sunda Clouded Leopard, a forest-dependent species, is found in Borneo and Sumatra and was only recognised as a separate species from the mainland Clouded Leopard in 2006. They have been isolated from the mainland population for 2.4 million years. Forest loss, conversion, illegal logging, encroachment, and hunting are major factors leading to population decline. Forest fires in Borneo and Sebangu National Park also pose a serious threat. Conservation: To ensure the survival of this species, it is crucial to maintain habitat corridors and connect isolated areas to allow gene flow between populations. Currently, no single protected area is big enough to support a viable population permanently. Panther's small wildcats program currently carries out biological monitoring and antipoaching efforts in Borneo forest reserves.
