Postal Kenya Masai Mara

The Masai Mara National Reserve, located in southwestern Kenya, is one of Africa’s most iconic and wildlife-rich conservation areas. Spanning about 1,500 square kilometers, the reserve is part of the greater Mara-Serengeti ecosystem and is named after the Maasai people who have lived in the region for centuries. The landscape is a classic African savanna—rolling grasslands dotted with acacia trees, meandering rivers, and open plains that stretch to the horizon. This fertile environment supports a dense concentration of wildlife, making the Masai Mara a top destination for safari-goers from around the world. The reserve is perhaps best known for the Great Migration, a dramatic annual movement of over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles that cross the Mara River from Tanzania’s Serengeti in search of greener pastures. This spectacle, typically occurring between July and October, is considered one of the greatest natural events on Earth. The Masai Mara is also home to the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), along with cheetahs, hyenas, crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species. In addition to its abundant wildlife, the reserve offers cultural experiences with the Maasai community, allowing visitors to learn about their traditional way of life and deep connection to the land.
