Actun Tunichil Muknal, commonly known as the ATM Cave, is a significant Maya archaeological site and a world-class cave exploration experience in the Cayo District. The name translates to 'Cave of the Stone Sepulchre.' The cave system is located within the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and was used as a sacred site by the ancient Maya for ceremonial purposes, including sacrifices. The cave is accessed by a river crossing and a jungle hike, followed by a wet cave exploration involving swimming, wading, and climbing.
