Lienzo The impressive Perito Moreno Glacier

This stunning photograph features the Perito Moreno Glacier, located in Los Glaciares National Park in the southwest Santa Cruz Province of Argentina. The glacier is situated on Lago Argentino, the largest freshwater lake in Argentina, in the Patagonian region. It is one of the few glaciers in the world that is in a state of equilibrium, meaning it accumulates mass at a rate similar to its loss. The ice formation spans approximately 250 square kilometers, is around 30 kilometers long, and has a terminus that is 5 kilometers wide and up to 74 meters tall (over 240 feet) above the water's surface. The glacier is famous for its dramatic calving events, where large chunks of brilliant blue ice break off and crash into the lake with a thunderous sound.
