This is a superimposed print on wood of my painting called Black Magic Hollyhock. Here is the story behind this painting... This artwork is dedicated to the most amazing flower I've ever seen; the Black Magic Hollyhock, it's black, purple, pink and white, so many colours both dark and light! A flower which you can look at to get some respite and feel amazed, looking at it will leave you feeling great and help you appreciate just how much of nature is still new to you! I decided to use people dancing amongst the colours of this exquisite flower to bring out the feelings of joy and elation which I felt when I first saw this flower. This is a multi-layered artwork on paper using watercolour, some stencil work and both sponge and a variety of other brushes to achieve a textured multi-dimensional image. This collection aims to portray the ability of people to connect in a variety of strange and unfamiliar environments. In a time of uncertainty and anxiety i'm setting the stage for spaces in which people can connect with each other. Watercolour paint was chosen as the medium as it runs the gamut from soft pastel effects to intense colour presentation. It was important to me to use familiar images in order to communicate my message in the most easily accessible manner.
