Witnessing thoughts

When I witness the constant chatter of my mind, I become an awareness which is beyond my thoughts. This awareness simply observes. It has no form, nor ego or identity with a 'self'. There is no attachment to a story which defines me as an individual. No concerns of past or future. It is a simple universal awareness observing my thoughts. I find churches help me to find the stillness that allows me to observe my thoughts. I see within me the illusions of self that my mind has created. The realisation is, that I am not just my thoughts.
