US MILITARY HELICOPTERS and VTOL

In support of it’s operations, the Army flies over 4000 manned aircraft ranging from the heavy-lift transport CH-47 Chinook to the ground-hugging and tank-busting AH-64 Apache helicopters. Over 700 helicopters and VTOL aircraft are used for the amphibious assault mission for the US military from flat deck carriers and ground bases and the Air Force operates over 200 helicopter and VTOL aircraft to conduct missions worldwide. Missions could include special operations into hostile territory, combat search and rescue, training, civil search and rescue, emergency aeromedical evacuation, disaster relief, international aid and counter-drug activities.
