Unique Indian Vehicles

The eco-sensitive transport like the cycle-rickshaws & Tangas are still one of the major forms of transport in the rural villages of India. A ride through the lanes of Old Delhi in a beautifully decorated cycle-rickshaw is an amazing experience that should not be missed by anyone visiting the city. The cycle-rickshaw is one of the oldest existing forms of transportation in India and still is the best transport carriage in the smaller towns or villages. An auto rickshaw, also known as the ‘tuk-tuk’, is a motorized development of the traditional pulled rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. Most have three wheels and can seat upto 3 passengers. It was Bajaj auto limited which introduced these autorickshaws in India in the mid 1900s. It is a common form of cheap urban transport, both as a vehicle for hire and for private use. Indian Trucks are a mode of transport & also a mobile work of art with a kaleidoscope of colors, slogans, & intricately painted symbols. A better looking truck attracts more business. Decoration also symbolizes good luck on road as also driving away bad omen. That's the reason a string of lemon & chillies is tied at the bottom of a truck. Rear end of trucks have the slogan 'Horn OK Please', a tradition which asks other drivers to honk when overtaking the truck.
