THINGS YOU CAN'T THROW AWAY

When someone special passes, you take your time packing up their things. You smell a sweater and hug it, you carefully eye their car keys, you put on their sunglasses and wear them around for the afternoon. Holding on to their things makes you feel like they are still there, you know? My dad used the top drawer of his dresser for little things he liked. Nothing valuable, just stuff he admired, a cool pebble from Thailand, an old picture of me when I was a baby, coins from around the world, ticket stubs from events he enjoyed over the years…and a handful of vintage paper Cuban Cigar Bands…. I tried one of them on my finger like it was a ring…. trying hard to think of what I could do with them… then it came to me. THE THINGS YOU JUST CAN’T THROW AWAY COLLECTION… beautiful Cuban cigar bands reimagined. I do hope you think they are as pretty as I do!
