Saint Margaret

Martyrdom of Saint Margaret (1608–1611) by Giuseppe Cesari Saint Margaret of Antioch was a virgin martyr who was beheaded for refusing to marry the prefect Olybrius. She was tortured, including being swallowed by a dragon, but escaped alive when the cross she carried irritated the dragon's innards. She was beheaded around 275. She is the patron saint of childbirth, expectant mothers, falsely accused people, pregnant women, women, and women in labor.
