Royal Stewart/Stuart Clan Castles of Scotland

Linlithgow Palace was home to the Royal Stewart, later Stuart, family in the 15th and 16th centuries. Mary Queen of Scots was born here. It is located in West Lothian, between Edinburgh and Stirling. Owned and maintained by Historic Environment Scotland, the site is open to the public year round. It and the adjacent St. Michael’s, a 15th century parish church, are two of the finest surviving medieval buildings in the country.
