Lady Tenko - A Sacred Kitsune
Straight from Japanese Shinto culture, the Fox, or kitsune, was initially a benevolent creature who served the Kami Inari, deity of crops, by protecting crops from attacks by small rodents. With the passage of time, the figure of the Kitsune evolved into a separate deity, but retained its main characteristics: whether it was a mischievous creature (Nogitsune), or benevolent (Tenko, the highest, most righteous fox spirit), it had the ability to change its form into that of a woman.
He remains, however, an ambivalent figure, also encompassing a predisposition to teach human beings, confronting them with tricks or trials.
