Jewish Queer Joy Flags
At the heart of this collection lies a bold reclamation: of symbols, of identity, of space. The LGBT Israeli Flag Series is more than an artistic statement—it's a living testimony to resilience, plurality, and the beauty of holding multiple truths. Each flag is an intersection, a meeting point of heritage and queerness, of diasporic longing and homeland pride, of tradition and transformation. They are not just flags. They are declarations.
Created by Yoanna Kollin, a trans Jewish artist and community educator, the flags speak through color, contrast, and sacred geometry. The core design of the Israeli flag—the blue stripes and the Magen David (Star of David)—remains, but it is reimagined through the lens of queer liberation. By layering the pride colors into this iconic national symbol, Yoanna brings visibility to the often-erased LGBTQ+ Jews who exist at the intersection of faith, nationhood, and identity. These flags ask: What does it mean to be fully seen? What does it mean to be whole in all your parts?
The collection includes multiple variations, each representing a different facet of the queer experience: the rainbow Pride flag, the transgender flag, the nonbinary flag, the lesbian flag, the asexual flag, the pansexual and bisexual flags, and more—all woven seamlessly with the Israeli aesthetic. This is an art series that says: We are here. We have always been here. And we are not going anywhere.
