Highland Park Rochester NY

Highland Park in Rochester NY is one of the oldest municipal parks in the US. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1888, the park encompasses 150 acres and boasts over 1200 lilac shrubs and includes 500 varieties. In addition, the park offers 35 varieties of sweet-smelling magnolias, 700 varieties of rhododendron, azaleas, mountain laurel and andromeda, horse chestnuts, spring bulbs and wildflowers, and the park’s pansy bed features 10,000 plants. Highland Park influenced the city's popular moniker as "The Flower City," and is honored every year with the annual Rochester Lilac Festival.
