Hand Painted Endangered Grey Crowned Crane

The Grey Crowned Crane Endangered A Crested Crane is the national bird of the African nation of Uganda. They live throughout almost all of Africa and some of them live far north in the arid Sahara desert. Their habitat is slowly being depleted by the over usage of water in the marshes and grasslands where they typically reside these areas are dried up to water fields of crops. Loss of breeding grounds and food sources have seen populations decline by 80% over the past 30 years. Conservation: Uganda’s wetland conservation project encourages local people to move their farming activities out of the wetlands. This project helps local people develop alternative livelihood practises that reduce the pressure on wetlands. Farmers are participating in Adopt-A-Crane programmes and fostering a sense of responsibility.
