Emblematic Y2k aesthetic: bold diffraction pastels paired with abstract metallic blobjects for a hopeful energetic aura. Despite the overhyped (but rightfully-proven unwarranted) non-issue of the need for 4-digit years in computing, the actual Y2k fashion style was (and still is) all about forward-facing optimism and the evolution from analog to the embrace of digital. So...overall, it was pretty positive and upbeat, thus I wanted to go with a design that would have been right at home at the time. Inspired by the vibe of the video games and music I was consuming from right around that year, this is a representation of what my college years felt like. Bonus fun fact: I used the Pantone Colors of the Year (for 2000 and 2001) as the dominant tones in this design.
